Ampersand and Special Characters (p. 455)
I selected this topic because I tend to use an ampersand and special characters when writing informal emails and text messages, but was curious if they are appropriate for more formal documents. This Business Writer's Blog explains where an ampersand should be used, such as in company names, titles, logos and citations, but not in everyday writing.
Editing Technical Documents (p. 502)
This topic is important to me because we are constantly proofreading and editing our documents in this class. TCH's handbook describes the difference between these two terms, as well. Copyediting is usually part of my routine, but being more aware of what to look for is helpful. The University of Kansas provides a clear and concise list of how to copyedit.
Track Changes and Version Control (p. 547)
I selected this topic so I could learn more about reviewing Word documents for classmates and coworkers. I have been asked to do this and have had difficulty remembering the details. Microsoft Word- Office Support provides instructions and includes visuals.
This topic is important to me because I often use "due to" and I wanted to see if I was using it wrong TCH's Handbook states you should avoiding using "due to" in place of "because of"and if you want to use "due to" then you will need to change the structure of the sentence. This Tips and Tricks resource was helpful because it gave a quick explanation of when to use "due to," and that is always after a form of the verb to be.
