UA Campus Health
Service
MEMORANDUM
To: All Campus Health Service employees
From: Christiana
Castillo, AOD Prevention Specialist
Date: July
13, 2016
Subject: Improving
Working Conditions
This is a request to implement exercise classes during the
lunch period of 12:00pm to 1:00pm every working day, Monday through Friday. As
employees of a health center, we take pride in being doctors, nurses, medical
assistants, counselors, nutritionists, and health educators, among many
others. We value the hard work and
dedication we have to our students’ health, and we should place equal value on
ourselves, and our own health.
Many employees enjoy walking on their lunch breaks, but due
to the high temperatures outside this summer, I would like to implement indoor
exercise classes in the conference rooms.
Yoga, Tai-Chi, and Pilates, among others, can all be done indoors. Not only is this a physical benefit to your
health, but a mental and emotional benefit, as well. Taking time to decompress and release
endorphins will help to decrease stress and make the workplace more productive
in the afternoon, when many employees tend to experience the “afternoon slump.”
I hope you will all take a moment to consider these benefits
and proposal.
Thank you.
